Frequently asked questions.
Who installs panic alert systems for Michigan schools?
OMNI Integrations, a veteran-owned security integrator in Ann Arbor, designs and installs panic alert systems for Michigan K-12 schools, ISDs, charter and private schools. Systems can include wearable buttons, mobile apps and fixed buttons that send location information to 911 dispatch and first responders while notifying staff so lockdown can begin immediately.
Can first responders see our cameras during an emergency?
Yes. We install incident command platforms that turn a panic alert into a coordinated response. When someone presses a wall or wearable button, staff, security and first responders get the location instantly and can open live camera feeds, interactive floor plans and two-way communication from a phone or browser, with no app download needed for responders. These platforms also tie in weapons detection, gunshot sensors, access control and PA systems, and they keep a timeline of each incident and drill for reporting.
Does Michigan have Alyssa's Law?
Not yet. Michigan has not passed Alyssa's Law. House Bills 4198 and 4199, introduced in March 2025, would require public and nonpublic schools to have a mobile panic alert system connected to emergency responders. Thirteen states have enacted Alyssa's Law or a similar requirement. Schools that install a compliant panic alert system now will be ready if Michigan passes it.
How can a Michigan school pay for security upgrades?
The main source is Michigan's Section 31aa school safety funding. It is non-competitive, so every school that applies receives funding, up to $147.06 per student for safety in 2026-27. Application windows close Nov. 9, Dec. 7, Jan. 4 and April 12, and funds must be spent by Sept. 30, 2027. Federal COPS SVPP and BJA STOP grants can add more, and private and faith-based schools may qualify for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program. Our free calculator estimates your school's 31aa amount.
Do you install vape detectors in Michigan schools?
Yes. OMNI Integrations installs vape detection sensors in school restrooms, locker rooms and other areas where cameras cannot go. The sensors detect vape aerosol and THC and alert administrators in real time. They contain no camera, so they protect student privacy.
Who installs weapons detection systems for Michigan schools?
OMNI Integrations installs AI weapons detection for entrance screening at Michigan schools, along with gunshot detection where configured. We connect detection to your cameras, access control and lockdown procedures so an alert leads to a fast, coordinated response.
Who does school security assessments in Southeast Michigan?
